Ongoing Projects:

RADIODAYS STUDIO

Laurent Grasso (in collaboration with Pascal Grasso)
In his installations, the French artist Laurent Grasso uses video, sound, and light to modify space and our perception of how it appears. The elements he works with are immaterial and even invisible, like certain magnetic waves. Laurent Grasso uses cinematographic techniques to produce things other than film. This is one of the processes of creating mental space that influence our perception of reality and our notion of time. For Radiodays, the artist proposes to create a specific space for the studio where guest and audience can share a physical experience of the space through the sound and the light creating a kind of tension between the activity in the box and the position of the viewer/listener.

RADIODAYS ARCHIVE

Association Apsolutno
Association Apsolutno's projects deal with "absolutely-real" facts of various kinds, from architectural situations and media productions to political facts. In other words, the attention focuses on the situations found here and now which reflect the specificity of time and space in a distinct way. Creating two spaces - a reading room and a searching room - Apsolutno generate two different frameworks for navigation through "Radiodays facts". In the reading room - reflecting the atmosphere of a studio - visitors can experience the Radiodays referential library that follows the radio broadcast and program scheme. The listening room offers to Radiodays guests the possibility tot search through the sound archive and to build their own sound environment.

LISTENING STATION OUTSIDE DE APPEL

Bojan Fajfric
Listening Wall for Mice and Bugs
For the occasion of Radiodays, Bojan Fajfric (lives and works in Amsterdam) has produced a new work: a wall 2.5 meters wide and 2 meters tall that stands at locations in Amsterdam. Inside the wall are radios that continuously play the Radiodays broadcast, but at such a faint volume that the audience must use instruments and/or every reach of their hearing in order to have a sonic experience. By doing so, Fajric plays with the fact that listening is often seen as something passive and instead creates a situation where the viewer cannot take the presence of sound for granted.

Saâdane Afif
Blue Time (sun burst) Everyday Brume Black Spirit (2005)
In recent years, the French artist Saâdane Afif has regularly asked the artist and writer Lili Reynaud-Dewar to write song lyrics as an extensions of his works. As his concern is the question of interoperation, play list and collaboration, Afif tries to create a bridge between his work and the audience. For the first time for Radiodays, Saadane Afif asked the musicians Tujiko Noriko & Portradium to compose a music for these lyrics. The songs will be broadcasted frequently throughout the project and become the HITS of Radiodays.

Gabriela Vanga
For Alfons Zitterbacke (2005)
Poetic, intimate, immaterial, the work of the romanian artist, Gabriela Vanga, tries always to challenge new ways of communication and dialogue between people following a real or fictional scenario. For Radiodays, Gabriela Vanga chose to dedicate a song everyday to a person found in the telephone book of amsterdam. As a game with a foreign language Gabriela Vanga tries to give a tonality, a color to a name that sounds exotic to her. At the same time the artist builds an ephemeral and strange community of people as homage to a hero from her childhood: Alfons Zitterbacke.
This program has been omitted from the archive.

Zoran Kesic
News Flashes (2005)
Zoran Kesic is a TV personality in Belgrade, Serbia & Montenegro who plays with the idiom of popular media and its relationship to the truth. For Radiodays he has produced humoristic false news items which confront the listener with the (im)possibility of truth and objectivity in journalism. These will re-occur throughout the Radiodays programming.

Susanne Bürner
Halligalli, (1999)
No, Johnny (2005)

In her works, Susanne Bürner is interested by the simple and banal moments of everyday life. For Radiodays she will present one of her sound pieces - Halligalli - as a jingle in which people are going up & down a roller coaster in a leisure park in Berlin. The sound (as a loop) is a long fluctuating scream. "No, Johnny" is a new work by the artist who has compiled one minute of film actors saying no in different context. These two pieces are broadcasting as jingle at different moment of the program.
